Our Story
Bundi Insights was born in Nairobi from a simple observation: the small business owners who power Africa's economy were being left behind by software built for someone else.
Every tool on the market assumed a laptop, a stable connection, and hours to spare. None of them spoke the language of a market trader in Gikomba or a salon owner in Kisumu.
The observation
that started it all
2023
Our founders spent months visiting markets, kiosks, and small shops across Nairobi. Every owner they met was sharp, driven, and deeply knowledgeable about their business, yet none of them had reliable data on their own sales, debts, or growth.
The tools that existed required laptops, stable internet, and hours of training. For a mama mboga managing 200 transactions a day on a feature phone, they were useless.

We didn't need to teach anyone a new habit. Across Africa, WhatsApp is how business gets done: orders placed, payments confirmed, suppliers contacted. It was already the infrastructure.
So we built Bundi to live inside it. No app to download. No dashboard to learn. Just a conversation, and behind it, a powerful AI engine turning every message into business intelligence.
We named our AI assistant Bundi, the Swahili word for owl. Owls are wise, watchful, and active at night. Just like your business. Bundi tracks your sales while you sleep, flags overdue debts before they become problems, and surfaces insights you'd never have time to calculate yourself.
